Intermediate 16 modules

Python Programming

A project-based Python curriculum that takes you from "what is a terminal" to shipping a complete, tested, documented application — 16 modules covering core programming, data structures, OOP, testing, Git, APIs, databases, and packaging, built entirely around real code you write and debug yourself.

Why This Course

You debug real bugs, not toy examples

Check-up projects hand you a passing test suite with a hidden bug, a script with a genuine SQL injection, or a merge conflict with no answer key — the same way bugs actually show up on the job.

Everything builds toward one real project

No disconnected exercises. Every module's skills — functions, OOP, SQL, testing, packaging — come together in a single capstone application you design yourself.

Deliberately underspecified, on purpose

Several projects give you a vague spec ("make this reusable") instead of a step-by-step recipe, because that's what real tickets look like — you'll practice making and defending your own decisions.

Every lesson links to primary sources

No lesson stops at a slide — each one points to the official Python docs, PEPs, or other primary sources so you build the habit of reading real documentation, not just tutorials.

Testing isn't an afterthought

A full module is dedicated to testing, and it's woven through the rest of the course — including a lesson where you write tests before the code exists.

You finish with something you can show

The capstone isn't a quiz — it's a working, documented, version-controlled project you could put directly in a portfolio or on GitHub.

Learning Objectives

  • Write and reason about Python programs using variables, control flow, loops, functions, and the core data structures (lists, dicts, tuples, sets)
  • Apply basic data structures & algorithms thinking (Big-O, searching, sorting, recursion) at an interview-ready level
  • Model real-world problems with classes and objects, and handle errors and files safely
  • Write automated tests (unittest and pytest) and explain what makes a test actually useful, not just present
  • Use Git and GitHub for real collaborative workflows — branching, merge conflicts, pull requests, commit hygiene
  • Consume external APIs and work with JSON, handling network errors gracefully
  • Package a project properly (virtual environments, requirements.txt, a CLI with argparse) so someone else can run it
  • Read, write, and secure SQL (including recognizing and fixing a real SQL injection vulnerability)
  • Scope, build, test, document, and ship a complete capstone project from an open-ended brief
